I think this poster adds the to the duality Clark/Kal faces in his young life. Superman can be viewed as a critique of humanity, in which war, injustice and inequality have always been rampant. He represents a superior form of being over us humans, and the drama from that scenario can be extracted from our failings as a species. His faith in mankind can be stretched, his desire to sacrifice can waver, and his relationship with humanity can become fragile. If you take alien villains out of the equation, then he can't really be tested physically. Superman's adversity comes from internal struggles, his desire to help mankind, his desire to help them thrive and live peacefully. However, its best not to think of Superman as an action hero, like John Mclane. He is extremely powerful relative to just about any force on this planet, but there are a slew of alien species in his universe that can take him on and kill him.

we'll see.ĭISCLAIMER: I have not heard of this movie until I saw this poster, and thus probably sound like an uneducated buffoon.Ĭontrary to many claims, Superman is not invincible. However, if the story really IS deep (which Superman movies have not proven to be in the past) then. If it's just another standard comic book movie about the "hero" trying to defeat some "villain", it will be rubbish. Why doesn't he just break the handcuffs and fly the fuck away in less than a second? He could be on the other side of the world in the time it takes any of them to blink. For instance, in the poster he's in handcuffs and surrounded by soldiers.

I don't mean to sound cynical (which I most certainly am) but how can we ever have any believable story involving Superman struggling with ANYTHING involving doing any sort of task? He can fly fast enough to travel back in time, literally CANNOT be harmed except by a rare alien crystal that only a handful of people in the world can get a hold of, can shoot monkey-flipping LASERS FROM HIS GODDAMN EYEBALLS, hear literally everything everywhere (and get there fast enough to do something about it, always), freeze anything just by breathing on it, and probably a whole lot of other things that the writers thought of at the moment.
